Mechanical or Snap-lock seam options.
Flexible installation options
The Grande M standing seam is a mechanically seamed option where each seam is crimped or folded with manual or power folding tools. This type of seam protects against lifting and leakage as the crimping process leaves the panel ribs fused; picture a can of tinned food: the same principle applies here; it is impossible to undo the seams without damage to the panel: much the same as taking a can-opener to the “said” tin of food. In some scenarios, you can undo the seam with an un-seamer tool, albeit not a common practice. Mechanical standing seam excels in situations where extreme weather is a concern or for low roof pitches less than 3:12. In addition, a liquid butyl can be applied to the seam while manufacturing the panel to provide maximum protection against water ingress.
The Grande SL standing seam features a snap lock seam with a nail fin strip to provide panel fastening without requiring any clips. The proceeding panel is then snapped to the lock seam and repeated for each run until the roof is covered. This type of installation speeds and simplifies installation while providing solid retention. Under-folds must be performed on the eaves and valleys of every panel to ensure the best possible retention outcome. All-Star Metals offers the option of panel notching when manufacturing these panels, eliminating the need for a contractor to perform these tedious cuts required to perform a proper under-fold.
